Amy’s Bread is proud to be a neighborhood bakery for 24 years!
Amy opened the original location in 1992 in this narrow, 650-square-foot storefront in the neighborhood still fondly known as Hell’s Kitchen. Built in 1896, the building had previously housed a fish market, and it still had the old wood storefront with carved trim and bay windows. It was the last of its kind in the neighborhood and, although in great need of repair, it seemed the perfect place for a new, Old-World bread shop. With the help of her family and friends, Amy renovated the space and the storefront was reborn, looking as it had nearly a century before. The look and feel of the shop has now become an important part of the bakery’s identity.
